"The Stars are Blackest at Night" premieres at the 2017 HP Lovecraft Film Festival in Portland in ONE WEEK!
This Cthulhu-inspired short film was written, produced and directed by Darren Eskandari and myself over the course of 72 hours.
Meghan Chadeayne handled additional scriptwriting and helped put all these words into our characters' mouths.
Justin Paul was our incredible Cinematographer and edited it along with Misha Syeed. Jake Goldenpulled focus like a mad man. Mike L. Taylordominated the 2nd Unit with some incredible footage and B-Camera work.
Bryan Stage scored the project, with Nikk Dibshandling our end credits music and Ben Kamm handling most of our on-set sound with an assist from Alexis Ettner.
Geoff Flint killed it with some amazing production design with an assist by Baja Charlie and Jeff Hebron.
Missy Munster provided wardrobe and lots and lots of blood. Laney Chantal White gave us some incredible creatures to play with.
The film stars Amanda Sugar Jones, Carissa White, Laura Wrong and Tracy Lynn with appearances byCheyenne Holman, Kelton Jones, Meghan Chadeayne, D'artagnan Mattaliano, Lauren Priebe,Rosie Neuharth, Drew Johnston, Brynn Route, Morgan Kwok, Alexis Ettner and Pete Carter and Violet Lux as the creatures.
"The Stars are Blackest at Night" was shot on location in Palmdale, CA and downtown LA at Arqade Studios.
This is quite possibly one of the absolute craziest and most enjoyable shoots I've ever been a part of. Thanks to a wonderful and patient crew, Darren and I were able to take a rather ambitious idea and make it happen.
Can't wait to do it again.
